Still plugging away at learning to like Metroid. Decided to try the game in the series that I had the most fun with.

Now while this is a good game, even in its era it was not mega super special awesome. It was just a game that was not complete tripe.

Decided to start over, as my last save file had somebody hijack my game, and play it a certain length. So I decided to see if the only reason I liked it was because I was further.

I still like this. It is not the most awesome game out there... but at least this one is fun to play... in small digests. I really could not see myself sitting down in front of this for too long.

Metroid (WII)

Genre/Style: Shooter/Platform Shooter
Release Date: 06/AUG/07

If you're trying to like the series rather than experience it through, it's best to start with Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, or Metroid Prime. Those are easily, EASILY the best three.
Yeah--have been trying Super Metroid... not loving it at all. I am enjoying this one a lot more than when I was playing Super Metroid.

Maybe I will pick up Metroid Fusion again--do not recall it being an awesome game when I played it last time (with people commenting on my disliking of it, as, "well, it is not one of the better Metroid games")

At this point, I am more than a little leary of getting Metroid Prime.

As I think the only reason Metroid got popular was due to the Justin Bailey code in this one.
You are obviously completely insane :P

And who are these Fusion haters? I will beat some ass up in here.
@amedeus8 what? Because I suspect the only reason people like Metroid games at the idea of seeing Samus Aran with next to no clothes on?

Yeah--it was a long time ago that I had to deal with the people who dislike Fusion... it would have been about five or six years ago that I was playing Fusion thought. Maybe I need to revisit it?
Wil Wheaton has a section in "Just a geek" about playing Metroid on NES way back when, it ends with him and his brother playing all night to finish the game and then they go "Dude, he's a chick!"

....Well it's funny when he says it ;)
@AlexanderA It sounds funny now.
